Your sight is precious : Let us help you look after it
When you book an eye exam with us you we don't rush you in and out as quickly as possible, we schedule 45 minutes with the optometrist. Our first priority is your eye health and vision so we have included as standard and free of charge Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Retinal Photos with all complete eye exams.
Often many of our clients tell us they did not realise that a comprehensive eye exam was so involved, they just thought it was a quick look at the old chart on the wall, and while we still have the old chart (well it's digital now of course) we actually do a whole series of exams. This includes checks for Glaucoma, Cataracts and Macular degeneration among others.

At Waipapa Eyecare we provide a thorough eye exam that includes all the following:
3D Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Scan
Visual Field Screening
We screen your visual field to determine any loss of sight. Blind spots or damaged areas may be an indication of diseases that rob you of your sight, such as Glaucoma or may indicate neurological disorders.
Eye Pressure
We measure the pressure of the eyeball to help detect Glaucoma. Our non-contact tonometer uses a small puff of air to measure pressure. It is quick and easy, unlike other tools that require the touching of the eye.
Eye Muscle Coordination
We check your eyes are working well together. Binocular testing helps detect problems that can cause double vision, headaches or difficulty with reading.

Retinal Photography
We take digital photographs of the inside of your eye. Photographing the retina aids detection of conditions like Glaucoma, Macula degeneration & Diabetic eye disease. It also provides a visual baseline for future comparison.
Slit Lamp Microscope Exam
We examine the front surface of your eyes. Using up to 40 x magnification cataracts, scarring, infections, dry eyes, foreign bodies or other problems can be detected.
Refraction Test
We test to see if glasses will help improve your sight. A series of tests are performed to determine whether glasses would be of benefit to you and which lenses will give you the best vision possible.
